The journey combines an interactive introduction to Mongolia’s traditional nomadic way of life with the opportunity to observe Takhi, or Przewalski’s wild horses, roaming freely in their natural habitat.
Travel west from Ulaanbaatar through the open steppe to the Mongol Nomadic Cultural Heritage Center, where a live cultural programme brings Mongolia’s centuries-old nomadic traditions to life. Guests can see demonstrations of traditional migration, livestock herding, dairy processing, felt making, archery, folk music and everyday ger life. The official programme also includes traditional food and drink tastings, Mongolian games and demonstrations using ox carts, camels, horses and other traditional forms of nomadic transport.
After the cultural programme, enjoy a traditional Mongolian lunch before continuing toward Hustai National Park.
Hustai is internationally known for the successful conservation and reintroduction of the Takhi, also known as Przewalski’s horse. These rare wild horses now live freely within the protected landscape alongside red deer, marmots, Mongolian gazelles and numerous species of birds.
Visit the park’s information center and continue deeper into the protected area by vehicle and on foot. Depending on the season, weather and movement of the animals, your guide will help locate Takhi herds and other wildlife.
This tour is ideal for travelers who want to experience both Mongolian culture and wildlife in one day without committing to an overnight trip. It is especially suitable for couples, families, photographers and small private groups with limited time in Ulaanbaatar.
Because wildlife moves naturally within the national park, sightings cannot be absolutely guaranteed. However, the itinerary is timed to give guests a good opportunity to observe Takhi in their natural environment.

Enjoy lunch at the Mongol Nomadic complex. Take time to relax after the cultural programme before continuing toward Hustai National Park.
Continue west toward Hustai National Park. Mongol Nomadic is located relatively close to Hustai, making these two experiences particularly suitable for combining in a single day. Accommodation listings place the camp roughly 40 km from Hustai National Park, although the actual driving distance depends on the route and park entrance used.
Arrive at the national park and visit the information center to learn about the history of the Takhi reintroduction programme and the park’s ecosystem.
Drive deeper into Hustai National Park in search of wild Takhi horses. The park has a shorter wildlife route of approximately 36 km, where visitors may encounter Takhi, marmots, red deer and birds of prey. Depending on wildlife location, there may also be opportunities for short walks and photography. Because Takhi are wild animals, their exact location changes naturally throughout the day.
Leave Hustai National Park and travel back toward the capital.
